Olga Kalashnikova

Olga Kalashnikova. was born in Moscow region. She spend her childhood in little village where she saw the beauty of nature near the gentle and clear river Vioksa.. Her father, Viktor Yegorov (1926-2003) was a great painter and talented person who had enormous influence on Olga's world. Her road to being an artist was not straight. In 1979 she graduated with a degree in advanced mathematics from the Moscow Aviation University. Every evening after work Olga started attending art classes to learn more about her real passion in life. Soon, she left her profession of mathematic and went to the Moscow Academy of Art and in 1988 she graduated at the top of her class. From 1988 Olga began spending more and more time on art. One summer she spent time at the Academic "Dacha," a famous summer house for artists in Tverskoy region where she met a lot of talented and leading masters of Russian aft. As a lyrical realist, her focus is on Russian nature and everyday life. Her canvases are full of light and poetical harmony. Olga.'s paintings are like a open door from the noise of the capital city to a borderless home land where you can hear s bell sound at sunrise, where there are living, joyful and suffering human beings. In 1997, Olga beginning a new period in her art, turning her focus onto history. Her first series of paintings depicted the campaign of the famous Russian general Aleksander Suvorov, through the Alps in 1799 where he defeated the Turks. She made a trip to Switzerland to collect necessary materials and experience the scenery where this campaign was conducted. Olga has had three one-artist exhibitions in Switzerland of her paintings. From 1993 Olga has been a member of Moscow Artists' Association and a. professor at the Moscow Academy of Art. In 1996, 1997, 1999, 2000, 2002 and 2006 Olga has had One Artist shows in the "White House" in Moscow, which is the seat of the Russian parliament (Duna). This is an high honor for any Russian artist. Her last show at the White House presented the works of both Olga and her father art works in April 2006. Many of her paintings are in public and private collections in Russia, Germany, Austria, England, China, Switzerland, Spain, Japan and other countries.

 

Viktor Yegorov

VVYegorov ( 1926-2003) was born in a little village on the V Volga river. Shortly after his birth, the family moved to Tashkent. During the Second World War Viktor lost both parents. Viktor lied about his age in order to join the army and fight to defend his country. In the nineteen fifties Victor moved to Moscow to pursue his dream to become an artist. He was a talented in many ways. He could play a number of musical instruments, write poems, and he had a good voice. But, his real passion became painting. After the war life was very difficult in Russia. Victor was working long days in an arts and crafts factory and in the evenings wa.s taking the lessons from well-known artists in their workshops. In the summers he would spend time in Abramtsevo (this is a. summer retreat for Moscow artists). In the 19th century great artists like Repin, Vasnetsov, Serov, Korovin and Shalapin spent time working there and learning from each other. Seeking roots in Russian traditions, Victorwould sometimes leave the city and go to the village of Usolie in the Yaroslav Region simply to spend time absorbing the old architecture, traditions and pre-Revolutionary culture. In 2006 first Victor's work was presented in a joint exhibit together with his daughter Olga Kalashnikova at the "White House" in Moscow (the location of the Russian Parliament, or Duma). Like so many artists in history, Victor has become more important as an artist after his death. He is now widely regarded as a first-class Russian painter.

 

Yegor Kalashnikov

Ni-egor Kalashnikov was born in Moscow in 1989, the son of I Russian painter Olga Kalashnikova and grandson of another famous Russian painter, Viktor Yegorov. From young age he was surrounded by people from the art world. In addition to being at the side of his mother, Olga Kalashnikova, his father was an art critic. His grandfather had a big influence on his young talent. He started school at the age of seven like all other children, but his strong love of art and his talent was already apparent. At the age of ten he passed the difficult entrance exams and was enrolled in the Moscow Academy's High School for Art. (A special school sponsored by the Academy of Art for talented children.) For seven years Yegor studied a broad spectrtun of painting techniques and media. His passion, however, became water colors. Today Yegor is seventeen and he is a fall time honors student at the Academy of Art in Moscow.
